Mission Statement

Since its inception in 1985, the mission of the Child Abuse Prevention Council has been to prevent child abuse & neglect through education, collaboration and advocacy.  We raise public awareness about abuse and neglect through our child abuse prevention education programs, community events and with the help of area businesses, human services organizations, schools, law enforcement and the community members at-large, like you.

Last year, almost one million children in the US did not know what it was like to be “safe and sound” in their homes.  Tragically, an average of three children die each day in our country as a result of abuse and/or neglect.  These children come from all races, genders and socioeconomic backgrounds.  In Eaton County alone over 100 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect are reported every month to Children's Protective Services and Law Enforcement.
